Chamomile Tea For Dogs

Chamomile tea is known to have a calming effect on humans. Drinking it has become a bed time ritual for humans. Chamomile extracts are also common in creams, shampoos and lotions. Because they calm skin irritation, reduce redness. And, they are gentle enough even for sensitive skin and baby care.

We use the chamomile tea for our dog with sensitive skin. He gets bad allergic reactions during seasonal changes in Bangalore, in the form of stubborn itches and mild redness.

Benefits of topical application of chamomile tea on dogs:

  • Soothes skin inflammation
  • Chamomile tea is known for it’s anti microbial properties
  • It has a calming effect on dogs who are stressed, especially with all the itching

Note:

  • Chamomile spray is not the best choice for open, bleeding wounds.
  • It is safe if your dog licks the tea in small quantities.

Chamomile tea recipe for dogs:

1 teaspoon loose chamomile tea 

100ml drinking water

  • Bring the water to boil and switch off the heat. 
  • Add in the teaspoon of chamomile tea. 
  • Keep it closed and let the tea mixture brew for 30 minutes or until the mixture is cool.
  • Transfer the brew to a spray bottle for use.

Always store chamomile tea spray in your refrigerator. 

It stores well in the refrigerator for unto 7 days.

You may need to make this solution every 3-5 days, depending on  intensity of their itch & off course the number of mutts. But this spray is worth brewing for your itchy mutt.

Side effects and allergy to chamomile tea are uncommon. However, if you feel your dog is not reacting well, please discontinue the use.
